‘Echoes’ is an immersive performance theatre made up of a combination of sound art and performance art. The work is a collaboration between Max sound technology designer Xinyu Zhang and stage performer Mengmeng Luo (Momo). The work simulates interpersonal mimesis in a post-humanist context, decoding and analysing complex communications.

The theatre design consists of a sound component that builds an echoechoic experimental field, recording the ambient sounds of the performance in real time, forming a spatially rather than chronologically mediated world of digital media, where sound acts as a tool for informative symbolic transmission, they also constitute our "Simulacra" - a complex mirror image that can reflect the truth, but can also hide or distort it. The act of dialogue and communication becomes a complex process of decoding and responding to each other's images.

The constant communication and dialogue with the spatial theatre becomes a complex process of decoding and responding to each other's images. The audience can only see the communicator at the port. So who is on the other end? Where is it? When we rely on the construction of fictional identities, are we caught up in being tracked, manipulated, or even predicted?
